Selecting Conference Table Furniture That Fits Your Business

Deciding on a conference table is easy when you follow some simple guidelines.

First, be sure you have the right sized conference table for your conference room.  If space is available, buying one that is slightly bigger than needed right now may be a good move as you will grow into it.  Another option is to go for modular conference tables where you can add on modules to the conference table as you go.

Once you decide on the size and shape of the desk, start comparing the various materials and makes available.  Naturally, a solid mahogany conference table is going to be higher priced than a wood laminate conference table.  Much of what decides the ultimate choice of your conference table will be the budget you have set aside for conference room furniture.

Next, choose matching conference table chairs to go along with your meeting table.  Thus, if you decided on a contemporary conference table, be sure to pair it up appropriately with modern office chairs.

Lastly, be sure to buy office furniture from a reputable retailer.  If shopping online, be sure to check if they carry items in stock.  If they don't have the items you want in stock and you are willing to wait, make sure they don't charge for your items until the particular product is ready to be shipped.  Ensuring you are not paying for something weeks or months in advance will protect you from having to wait on items they take their time to re-stock and ship.

Whether used for client and vendor meetings, staff meetings, video conferencing, or for special projects, the conference table furniture you choose will become an important part of the everyday activities of your office.  As you furnish your conference room consider the following:  how you want your office represented to visitors, how you will usually be using the furniture, and how much wear the furniture will be seeing on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.

Hardwood, veneer, laminate, and glass are all potential materials for your conference table.  Leather, artificial leather, synthetic upholstery, and synthetic mesh are all options for the matching chairs.  Once you have established a budget for the purchase of your conference office furniture, you can begin to wade through the many choices before you.

Stained hardwood offers a classic, professional look; it can be simple or carved, dark or light.  Care is relatively easy.  Coasters should be used for hot and cold drinks, and it can be cleaned with a wood cleaner.  Wood conditioners should be used periodically to restore the shine of the finish and add years to the life of the wood.  For a similar look at a lower budget, you may choose a table made of less expensive wood or a composite with a wood veneer.  This will require a little extra care because the veneer is a thin layer of wood and susceptible to scratches and wear.  You may choose a laminate layer instead of veneer.  The look is a little less authentic, but it can be cared for, using a general surface container, and water stains wipe off with no damage done.  Finally, you may feature a glass top table in your meeting room furniture.  The frame may be metal or wood, and the top is easy to clean and care for with a glass cleaner and a paper towel.

Accent your conference table with comfortable chairs that match the general look of the table.  If you have chosen a conservative table, add high back chairs in leather or a conservatively designed upholstery.  For a glass top table, a more modern chair may be used, with a little more freedom in colors.  Remember during the process that the style of your conference furniture will send a message about the spirit of your company.
